Grid Value Portrait

Grid Value Portrait

WAL (We are learning) About value in art: - We learnt how to make light and dark pictures light and dark.

Last term we did grid value portraits.
Grid value portraits are a picture that is made of patterns.

These are the steps.
  • We studied Chuck Close. Chuck Close is the artist we were inspired by.                                         He was born on the 5 May 1940.                                                                                                       He was dyslexic and had face-blindness                                                                                             He was partially paralysed
  • We took a line for a walk. We got a piece of paper and literally scribbled on it.
  • Then we drew light and dark patterns in the loops. To make the dark patterns we put lots of small things close together and to make the light patterns we did big things that were not close together.
  • Then we had a little picture and we had to make it bigger.
  • Then we did the artwork!
I think that the hardest part was trying to enlarge the picture.
I think that the best part was doing all the patterns.
